Locating historical newspapers online

US Newspapers

has access to some online newspaper and magazine databases: Available on microfilm at KL: Detroit News (1890-2015) and online index

Many newspapers are also available on the web. Check the following:

Chronicling America  is  a searchable database of digitized newspapers from 1835 to 1963. Its  U.S. newspaper directory allows you to identify newspapers for specific regions and times and how to access them.

Many historical American newspapers have been digitized by historical societies or archives, and made freely available. For example: The Michigan Digital Newspaper Portal lists local newspapers archives (either publicly available or those available for a fee).

A good list of online newspapers is available on Wikipedia.

Google News archive contains many historical newspapers.
