EMBase: Exporting References to RefWorks

null

Using the RefGrab-It Tool from RefWorks:

RefGrab-It is an optional feature for capturing citations from web pages. It is available in two versions -- a bookmarklet or a downloadable plug-in -- that works with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.  View the Refworks tutorial to learn how to install this feature.

Once the RefGrab-it tool is installed, you simply click the bookmark or plug-in and the citation information is captured and you have the option to choose all citations on the page, or just the ones you select.

Exporting a List of Records to New RefWorks (blue):

  1. Conduct your search and mark the records you want to import into RefWorks.
  2. Click on the Export link located at the top of the gray Results section. This will open a pop-up window and you will be prompted to select an export format. Choose the export format RefWorks Direct Export from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click the blue Export button located in the bottom right of the pop-up window. When you see the Ready for Export window, click the Submit to RefWorks button.
  4. Click the Yes, Export to the Newest Version of RefWorks button and Log in to RefWorks.
  5. The records you selected should be imported automatically and appear in your Last Imported folder.

For further assistance or to set up a RefWorks account, please visit our main RefWorks page.
