How to Get Remote Help
While the Kresge Library building is closed, it is still possible to get remote research help. There are currently ofour ways that you can reach a librarian for assistance. These are accessible from the "Ask a Librarian" widget that is featured on each page of the library website in the top right corner.
1. Email
You can send us an email anytime of the day at ref@oakland.edu and a librarian will respond generally within 2 hours or when research help re-opens.
2. Phone
You can call and leave a voicemail and a librarian will call you back. Our phone number is (248) 370-4426.
3. Chat
You can instant message with a librarian through our chat service. You can reach the chat by clicking the chat icon in the Ask a Librarian widge (shown above), or you can click Research Help on the left-hand side of the website to expand the options, and click Ask a Librarian. This will bring you to the chat! If a librarian is unavailable, the chat will show as offline.
4. Research Consultation
If you have a more in-depth question or would prefer to meet face-to-face with a librarian, you can schedule a research consultation! These are dedicated appointments where you can receive one-on-one reseearch help. See this guide to learn more about setting up a virtual research consultation and using Google Meet.
